About this work
This sculptural work isolates a found ceramic cup – the sole unbroken artefact recovered from the ruins of a 16-storey residential building in Kharkiv, which burned for two days following a Russian missile strike. Although the structure remained standing, it was declared uninhabitable and later dismantled, its interior reduced to rubble.
Removed from function and repositioned as a single object, the cup operates not as a remnant but as a marker of endurance within erasure. It carries the imprint of a domestic space that no longer exists, confronting questions of what remains, what disappears, and what is irrevocably lost when habitation is stripped away by war.
